As part of a consultation with strategy agency Utopies, who are experts in the field of sustainable development, Accor wanted to offer a fun and educational insight into the key stages involved in opening a new hotel.
How do you go about opening a hotel on a paradise island whilst adopting an environmentally-friendly approach?
How do you train employees in this concept of sustainable development?
Utopies and Accor got in touch with us in relation to illustrating this message in a way that was in keeping with their Earth Guest charter.
ILLUSTRATION: The metaphor of an island - a true microcosm
The 148 graphic design studio explored a number of graphical avenues, and in order to create a dreamlike atmosphere we needed to approach this from the perspective of opening a hotel in an environment that needed to be protected.
Our work is used in-house to train the Accor group’s employees in the group’s sustainable development policy.
It can also be found on the front page of the Accor group’s website to draw visitors’ attention to what the hotel group hopes to achieve.
Working closely alongside our Flash developers and animators, the graphic design studio reworked and prepared all of the photographic visuals & illustrations to standardise them so that they could be integrated.
Once the Internet-user has reached the Accor site, the educational illustration guides them as they discover the world of sustainable development and the measures put in place at each stage of a hotel’s life.
From the siting plan and impact assessments right through to construction, a total of 200 videos were used to highlight the group’s approach. The way the website, which was created in Flash at the client’s request,
was designed enables the Internet-user to choose the field they’d like to know more about from a dual menu system (either directly on the illustration or from the navigation menus).
Let’s dress the whole thing up a bit!
Our sound designers came up with 2 soundtracks.
