Carnot MICA brings together public research laboratories specializing in innovative materials, addressing some of today’s most advanced industrial challenges. At the intersection of academic research and technological innovation, the network supports companies on complex issues that are often difficult for non-specialist audiences to grasp. Its website no longer made this added value clear, nor did it adequately reflect the network’s ability to support economic players in a concrete way.
As part of a rebranding led by 148, the redesign of the carnot-mica.fr website was conceived as a strategic lever: to clarify a highly specialized scientific positioning, make ultra-specialized expertise accessible, and strengthen the network’s visibility among companies, partners, and institutions. The challenge was both pedagogical and strategic: to simplify without diluting, and to structure without oversimplifying.
148 Agence Collective supported Carnot MICA in a complete website redesign, conceived as a true exercise in scientific mediation. Information hierarchy was central to the approach: clarifying areas of expertise, structuring content around uses and benefits, and highlighting how the network supports companies. The UX work with SEO strategy made it possible to build progressive reading paths, facilitating understanding of the network’s activities while also addressing visibility and SEO challenges in highly technical scientific fields.
The design follows on from the rebranding developed by the agency, with a digital adaptation designed to showcase innovation and research. Animations and micro-animations punctuate the navigation, evoking ideas of material, transformation, and technology while reinforcing content readability. This artistic direction strikes a balance between scientific rigor and modernity, delivering a clear and engaging experience.
“The website’s art direction was conceived as a tool for building trust: a clear, refined, institutional and modern design, aimed at reassuring industrial stakeholders. Our objective was to highlight Carnot MICA’s ability to support companies through its scientific expertise and research infrastructures." Axelle, Artistic Director
Today, the redesign positions carnot-mica.fr as a strategic tool: a clear, educational, and credible digital showcase that bridges cutting-edge research and industrial innovation, while amplifying the visibility of a key player in innovative materials.
