This project holds a special place for us. B Corp (for Benefit Corporation) is a label created in 2006 in the United States. It rewards companies whose mission, business model, and management integrate social, societal, and environmental objectives. Companies that want to have a positive impact on the world around them. There are 4,000 B Corps in the world as we write these lines! About a hundred in France. Including Agency 148. In 2020, we were contacted by the French subsidiary, B Corp France, which wants to revamp its website. It wishes to have its own identity and better highlight French B Corps. The objective is threefold. To publish individual profiles for each company and serve as a tool for promoting certified French companies. To explain how the certification works and recruit new B Corps. And finally, to provide a directory to create a B Corp community, a network.
We have received great feedback on our new site since the beginning. This rise in strength regarding our brand identity shows that we are taking off; it allows us to reach a new milestone.

This network idea, B Corp France puts it into practice for the redesign of its website. It calls on three certified companies: Pixelis for the graphic charter, Norsys for front-office development, and Agence 148 for back-office development and overall project management. Immediately, we propose to provide the new design tool we have developed: our EcoBuilder. This involves applying the principles of eco-design for digital services to the creation of a website. Specifically, this EcoBuilder is a plugin for WordPress that allows for the generation of a static site. Normally, a web page is reconstructed every time a user wants to access it: the page queries a server that sends back all the information to display on the screen. In the case of a static site, the interface is already generated for each of the pages. The server therefore does not need to redo the work each time. It is both faster and much less energy-consuming.
We also choose to design the B Corp France website in the form of “free blocks.” This approach, which we adopt in many projects, contributes to the digital frugality of the website. We provide the client with a large number of blocks that incorporate their visual identity: text blocks, image blocks, image + text blocks in different configurations, a slider, an internal linking block, a video block, etc. The client can thus arrange new pages in a completely customized way. This gives them great autonomy. And it avoids having to call on us every time they want to evolve their site.
At every link in the chain, we can make an extra effort to reduce our environmental impact. Thanks to Agency 148, our website is in line with the values we uphold.

Frugality does not prevent animations. Fortunately, we can have a resource-efficient yet dynamic site at the same time! And bcorporation.fr demonstrates this well. We work from the graphic charter imagined by Pixelis: the round shape of the logo is split in two to create hemispheres of different sizes and colors. A simplicity that offers a multitude of possibilities and shows that B Corp companies can grow infinitely. These shapes, each representing a B Corp, revolve around each other and come closer, like magnets, to work together. Each has its identity, its expertise. And shared values. They gather to be stronger. The visual thus contributes to the message. It also shows that the B Corp France site is a living site, for a company in motion. One of the new features is a "News" tab that allows for regular publication of detailed articles about a B Corp, highlighting specific actions, and thus serves as a tool for certified companies to communicate.
The design of the site is conceived as a reflection of the philosophy of B Corp companies: partners, united by common values, working together to be stronger.

Working together. That’s what we do with the two other agencies involved in this project. And we can even talk about skills transfer. In order to collaborate effectively with the Norsys agency, which is responsible for the front office, we explain the functioning of our EcoBuilder to its developers. We are very attached to this tool, which took us two years to develop. We pass on our expertise in this area and train them in the use of this tool. For us, this project is a way to fully engage in our approach. By sharing our values with as many people as possible. By designing the site in the most eco-responsible manner possible. And finally, by offering B Corp France the opportunity to work in the form of skills sponsorship, without any financial gain.
On this project, we chose to share our digital eco-design tool with the other agencies involved in the project. We are happy to pass on this expertise that allows us to consume fewer resources.
