Autori Vari wanted to obtain a logo and a graphical identity that reflected a design trend, of course, but that also expressed the ideas of tradition and craftsmanship.
148 was entrusted with the task of creating the brand identity and its graphical identity (logo, business cards, envelopes, etc.) and the web design of its e-commerce site. “The logo is a graphical representation of the universal way of writing Autori Vari - AAVV. The general idea was to reproduce in graphical form the combination of the world of 1950s Italian functionalist rationalism and the tradition of artisan production - a modern notion involving making things by hand”.
- 148 Agency
The 148 web team used the PrestaShop e-commerce CMS platform as a basis for their site and their online shop to reflect the needs expressed by Autori Vari with regards to its e-commerce activities.
In addition to customising the graphical interface, 148 also developed a number of specific aspects, notably including the introduction of simultaneous multilingual display. This choice reflected the brand’s philosophy and personality whilst still highlighting the Italian aspect.
Breakdown of the development and onlining stages:
- Definition of the site’s tree structure
- Definition of specific content areas (slider, random content, etc.)
- Study of existing PrestaShop settings and balancing of need development and adaptation (time saving and reduction in specific development costs)
The creation of a tool for calculating the cost of the repairs.
A diagnostic process was used to estimate maintenance costs.
Those with iPhones who were interested as a result of seeing the campaign in the street had to be able to access messages directly.
- Execution of web design
- Feedback and tweaking
- HTML integration
- Conversion to a PrestaShop theme
- Development of modules for specific content areas
- Content integration
- PrestaShop configuration
- Installation on the target production server
- Configuration of external modules (payment, statistics, shipment, chat, referencing, etc.)
- Onlining
AAVV had a specific need with regards to displaying the craftsmen and designers concerned. 148 Agency recommended that it change some of the ways in which PrestaShop worked and displayed the content in question (in accordance with PrestaShop’s core override rules). A list of items and specific layouts by category was displayed.
Once these page templates had been decided, the web design aspect was taken into account and we developed a series of content management modules that were also rather specific, as well as implementing a number of automatic functions such as the formatting of images.
148 Agency produced the following modules: Menu / Footer / Random content module / Slider. Each of these modules incorporated the multilingual concept and could be edited via the back office.
AAVV wanted to be able to provide press content in a secure manner, so 148 introduced an access system that required a password to log in.
Autori Vari produces unique pieces to order, meaning that lead times are therefore longer than with other e-commerce sites.
We added several statuses to the order process to enable the customer to track the progress of the product they had ordered (i.e. the craftsman has begun work on your product / the manufacturing process is complete / your item is leaving Italy and on its way to you, etc.)
AAVV wanted the Italian language to continue to feature heavily,
so 148 introduced the dual-language concept by changing the PrestaShop Core.
A simple keyword was used to inform the system when the text entered was French, Italian or English to make it easier for AAVV to manage the site.
Given the very wide variety of products concerned (and their varying sizes and weights) and the fact that it had customers all over the world, AAVV wanted to use multiple couriers in order to achieve the best possible prices for its customers.
148 Agency configured and installed various partner shipping modules with an API checking their pricing charts in accordance with the delivery address and providing an up-to-date price in real time.
Removal of functions that AAVV didn’t use in order to improve performance and position the various content areas in accordance with the design of the site.
Introduction of common areas:
- Page header
- Recurring menus
- Footer
Followed by work on the following pages:
- Homepage
- Product category page (listing)
- Product page
- Item page (text content, not product)
- Item category page (category listing)
- Pages relating to user management
- Page relating to the ordering process.
With the emphasis again on improving performance, we applied the best web technologies with a view to getting the site to perform as best it could, notably using the Pagespeed and Yslow tools.
