A guide that aligns with the values of 148 Agence Collective

SUEZ wishes to distribute a brochure to its employees to raise awareness about everyday sexism. About those little phrases that are regularly spoken in offices and seem harmless, which can even make colleagues laugh, but are degrading. We are very happy to have been chosen to develop this 18-page guide. 148 Agence Collective is B Corp and, as such, we are committed to these issues of equality and respect for others.

It was SUEZ that provided the texts, and our role was to illustrate them. A nice challenge! This is a very sensitive subject that we decided to address with humor, to be impactful but not heavy. Axelle, our graphic designer, chose a light, almost naive style. She wanted to allow room for interpretation and let employees question themselves. Her drawings, monochrome, are made with a strong line, with just shading. She created characters that we discover in various office life situations. Through speech bubbles, she makes them say those famous little phrases like "Fortunately, we have Sandra, our charm asset for the mission."

To adapt to the charter of a large international group

The other challenge was to maintain our creativity while adhering to SUEZ's very strict charter. The constraints were numerous, affecting the colors, the logo, and the typography. Proof that we did well: SUEZ chose to include many more illustrations than expected in its guide. In the initial brief, there were 3 or 4; by the end, there are nearly 20!

The goal was not to stigmatize but to provoke reactions and open debates. And it worked. The guide does not only address discrimination against women. It also discusses discrimination that men may face, regarding their sexual orientation or physical appearance, for example. Brigitte Grésy, the Secretary General of the High Council for Professional Equality between Women and Men, sent an email (which charmed us with its brevity!) congratulating SUEZ: “Wonderful product, well done.”

A global broadcast

The guide against ordinary sexism, commissioned by the headquarters in France, is intended to be disseminated across all group subsidiaries. It has already been adapted in the Middle East and India, and adaptations are in progress in Morocco, Australia, and Spain.

148 Agence Collective has been working with SUEZ since 2012, primarily for the company's attractiveness department. We have produced numerous print, event, and digital materials (brochures, banners, booth, kiosk, application, website…). The human-sized structure of our agency allows us to be very responsive and to quickly adapt to the requests of an international client that is very concerned about its employer brand and the development of its human capital.
