From psychology to art, there's only one step! In 1992, Alain Gutharc joyfully leaps this step by opening his gallery. A refined aesthete, the gallery owner appreciates all forms of art, from the most classic like painting or photography to the most intimate, as allowed by video or new digital technologies.
However, he remains very selective and demanding about the virtuosos he chooses to exhibit, preferring quality over quantity for each individual with long-term follow-up. Alain Gutharc is indeed one of those who take risks for young artists, whose talent is still unknown but very promising.
Thus, he needed a site as delicate as personal, like a case for his prodigies... and his buyers and collectors, among whom is the Ministry of Culture.
The site was confusing, the navigation cumbersome and not easily accessible.
Moreover, the formatting and presentation did not reflect the artistic universe of the gallery.
An elegant site. Clear and organized for the visitor, easy and convenient to manage.
The integration of a dual language within the same site.
Webdesign: A clear and simple site to keep the artworks in the light
The atmosphere of a gallery's website is crucial to reflect its universe, its artists, and its standing.
The web design and its navigation have been the subject of a study and after several trials, the choice naturally leaned towards a range of monochrome tones.
The grace and softness of white allow the personality of the artworks to express itself.
In this spirit, the typography has been chosen from a palette of light grays, as if it had been traced or faded.
The aim of this minimalist and streamlined approach: to give prominence to the exhibited artworks, playing on the contrast with a simple presentation.
The site is merely a showcase dedicated to the artists and all the creations that the gallery displays, intentionally remaining in their shadow.
Ergonomics: a clear and direct navigation
A unique animated menu on the side allows you to browse the site by clicking on a tab, with submenus appearing instantly for intuitive navigation.
It is also possible to explore the gallery by artist, including a catalog of each of the works present in the gallery.
Each work can be enlarged while remaining protected against copying or large-scale reproduction.
Regularly present at the FIAC (International Contemporary Art Fair), the Gutharc Gallery has an international clientele. Thus, the English version of the site is integrated into the same graphic space, facilitating navigation and giving the user the option to read the contents in the original version by simply hovering the mouse over it.
Development: a custom-built site
The redesign of the site was an opportunity to transition from a static site to a dynamic one.
Contents often evolve with exhibitions and are frequently reused, although presented in a different manner.
The developers from 148 decided, given the specific requests from the Gallery, to create a tailor-made tool rather than using the pre-configured settings and frameworks of Open Source CMS like Wordpress or Joomla.
A true gallery management tool created from scratch, the administrator can easily and quickly manage the changing news of the gallery, both internal and external.
