Kenzo Kids, the famous children's ready-to-wear brand, is reaching out to us with our partner Pierre Pierre to create an animation within their stores: at the checkout, children will be able to pass the time thanks to an interactive kiosk allowing them to interact with the brand's iconic animals.
This project, challenging both creatively and technically, immediately interests us. We embark on an adventure ranging from the creation of animal figures to the installation guide for the in-store kiosks, including a phase of development and testing.
This project was built around a central question: how to make the waiting time in the store enjoyable and fun for children while their parents are at the checkout?
Tanguy, account director at Agency 148
The design takes place at Pierre Pierre, our partner studio specialized in animation, with whom we have already had the opportunity to work on the 360° campaign project Orthospé. Graphic representations of the four flagship animals of the Kenzo Kids brand are designed: the tiger, the panther, the lion, and the elephant. These “animojis” are intended to interact directly with children in stores, reacting to their facial expressions. When you open your mouth, the lion does the same. The elephant raises its trunk. And when nothing happens… the character falls asleep!
"The design needs to be thought of in terms of constraints, as it is meant for an application whose use and consumption environment are very specific. It has nothing to do with a 'classic' application."
Tanguy, Digital Consulting Director, 148 Agency Collective
To develop the application, we chose to use Jeeliz, an open source technology dedicated to real-time motion capture. Based on this tool, we need to match the expressions perceived by the camera with the animation displayed on the screen. The application must be installed in around fifty stores worldwide, involving significant constraints related to the heterogeneity of the usage environments. Lighting, hardware, and the distance from the child to the terminal are all crucial parameters to consider during development.
"From a technical standpoint, it was very interesting to have the opportunity to develop an application on Windows. And then it was fun to test it all together in the office and play with the different expressions of the animals!”
