Kenzo Kid
Application
The project was built around a central question: how can we make this moment of waiting in the store, when their parents are at the checkout, pleasant and fun for children ?

An App for Kenzo Kids stores
Kenzo Kids, the famous children's fashion brand, approached us along with our partner Pierre Pierre to create an in-store experience: while their parents are at the checkout, children can pass the time by interacting with an interactive kiosk featuring the brand’s iconic animals.
This project, challenging both creatively and technically, immediately caught our interest. We embarked on an adventure that involved everything from designing the animal figures to creating installation guides for the kiosks, along with a development and testing phase.
Creating interaction with Kenzo Kids’ iconic animals
The design work took place at Pierre Pierre, our partner studio specializing in animation, with whom we previously collaborated on the 360° Orthospé campaign. We developed graphic representations of the four main animals of the Kenzo Kids brand: the tiger, the panther, the lion, and the elephant.
These “animojis” were designed to interact directly with the children in-store by responding to their facial expressions. When a child opens his mouth, the lion does the same. The elephant raises its trunk. And when nothing is happening… the character falls asleep!
The design had to consider specific constraints, as it was meant for an application with a very particular usage and environment. It’s nothing like a “traditional” application.

Developing a custom application
To develop the application, we chose Jeeliz, an open-source technology dedicated to real-time motion capture. Using this tool, we had to match the expressions detected by the camera with the animation displayed on the screen.
The application was to be installed in about 50 stores worldwide, which brought significant challenges due to the diverse usage environments. Lighting, equipment, and the distance of the child from the terminal were all crucial parameters to consider during development.
From a technical standpoint, it was very interesting to develop an application on Windows. Plus, it was fun to test it all together in the office and play around with the different animal expressions!
